Saturday morning when I was sitting flyer and took off in the direction of Hamburg, it was suddenly there again. This very special tingle that probably everyone knows who deals with intense football. It almost seemed as if I had a subconscious premonition of what would happen in a few hours later Millerntor. But maybe it was just the anticipation to finally be back in Hamburg and all the nice people who share my passion again. Who my last blog entry does not have a presence there will have to read out some frustration. The happiness was gone for over a brief winter break something and I know again why I still do so regularly.
All the people I met before the game was tense and most because It was impossible to predict how many will be us who support the many would like Jolly Rouge protest. Hours before the game quickly became clear that there will be few. Everywhere, people with red flags, hats, sweaters, shirts and whatever the road. Flyers were distributed everywhere, glue, buttons. It was already impressive. Even before the protest Bars name for himself not wait: The Jolly Roger had changed his name to Jolly Rouge.
What then departed the stadium was simply indescribable. South, North, back straight, and even right and left of the business seats on the main, red and black Jolly Roger. A sea of red from flags, banners, caps, cartons, sheets. More impressive than these pictures can not describe what makes this club still. Despite all attempts to marginalize the part of the association and the protest as a quick shot from a couple of "spinners" to dismiss, it was the most widely supported fan campaign dollars since Miller-protest, if not bigger. In that moment I knew, despite all the struggles, misunderstandings and differences of opinion in most of these fan groups, has become the FC St. Pauli is such an important part of my life why and continues to be and will be. to have to live this creativity, the energy and the will to FC St. Pauli as a slightly different organization, with all the consequences which must be paid for this is simply unique. I had a follow up to demo a very interesting and enriching discussion with an old St. Pauli fan and even though we both probably have a pretty different idea of our fan life and live it also completely different: the mutual Respect was always felt and that's it but ultimately what counts. And this attitude, I feel definitely still in our fan scene and this is after all the events such as Rostock and now the ever increasing commercial madness but actually a good sign.
